Monroe County Community College has announced its program and activity schedule in honor of Black History Month. All events are free and open to the public, and are at the main campus, 1555 S. Raisinville Road.

Feb. 5: “Demystifying Africa,” a presentation by MCCC President Dr. Kojo A. Quartey, 2 p.m., administration building, room 173d.
Feb. 15: Panel Discussion: “Economic Status of African American Countries,” 2 p.m., La-Z-Boy Center, Room 271.
Feb. 19: Panel Discussion: “African American Education in the City of Detroit,” 2 p.m., administration building, room 173d.
Feb. 22: Panel Discussion: “Haiti: Past and Present,” 2 p.m., administration building, room 173d.
Feb. 24: The Big Gig! Monroe County’s 31st Annual Black History Month Blues Concert starring Ruthie Foster, Anthony Gomes and Rev. Robert B. Jones Sr.; doors open at 6 p.m., show is at 7, La-Z-Boy Center.
Feb. 27: Film: “Get in the Way: The Journey of John Lewis,” 2 p.m., Campbell Learning Resources Center - Little Theater.
