(MENAFN - Gulf Times) Setting new standards for the mid-size sedan segment in design, performance and comfort, Abdullah Abdulghani & Bros Co (AAB) has launched the all-new 2018 Toyota Camry in Qatar.
AAB, exclusive distributor of Toyota and Lexus vehicles in Qatar, noted that the design of the eighth-generation Camry aims to test the limits of performance and intelligence, infusing the high-end sedan with a refined feel.
The design team began with a blank slate, using Toyota New Global Architecture as the basis for the all-new platform, units, electronics and other core components.
The result is a striking emotional character, stunningly beautiful design, responsive driving and premium ride performance, according to a press statement.
'To create something that stirs people's soul, we have laid out the concept of a new sedan that provides fun and excitement behind the wheel, said the chief engineer of the all-new Camry, Masato Katsumata.
'In developing the next-generation Toyota Camry, we were able to start with a blank slate, which allowed us to create a true driver's car that behaves exactly as the driver intends, he noted. 'The all-new 2018 Camry is an extremely balanced machine with much more excitement and emotion than any previous model.
Yugo Miyamoto, chief representative, Middle East and North Africa Representative Office, Toyota Motor Corporation, said: 'We are excited to launch the all-new Camry and build on the success the car already enjoys in the region.
'With its exhilarating design, refined interior, stirring driving performance, cutting-edge technology, and class-leading fuel efficiency, the 2018 Camry creates a whole new value proposition while ensuring seamless fun and excitement for driver and passengers alike and re-establish itself as the new standard in the mid-size sedan category, he
explained.
'We extend our deepest gratitude to our customers in the region for their continued support and feedback, which inspire us to excel and develop cars that exceed their expectations,
Miyamoto said.
The Camry has established an unshakeable presence in the standard mid-size sedan market both in the Middle East and globally with total sales surpassing 19mn units.
The all-new Camry provides a comfortable and stable ride with superior handling characteristics, thanks to TNGA, which represents an entirely new strategy to the way the company designs, engineers, and packages its vehicles.
TNGA retains all of Toyota's traditional values of superlative build quality and safety while injecting a fun driving experience that plays on all the senses.
The physical manifestation is the usage of a new engine, transmission, and the GA-K platform.
Set to become a new sensation among the region's aspiring car enthusiasts, the all-new Camry comes with three powertrain options: a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 178hp and 23.6kg-m of torque and mated with a six-speed automatic transmission, and a newly- developed 3.5-litre V6 with D-4S fuel injection system that produces 298hp and 36.3kg-m of torque and mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
In addition, a new electrified hybrid system will be introduced later this year, combining two power sources consisting of a petrol engine and two electric motors, producing 176hp and 118hp, respectively, and delivering 22.5kg-m and 20.6kg-m of torque, respectively.
With an interior featuring a distinctive design, and offering convenience and comfort with a layer of luxury, the car's cabin is accentuated with a range of
advanced features.
As with any other Toyota model, safety remains a top priority for the all-new Camry, which includes a comprehensive array of safety features to protect its occupants, such as six SRS airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Brake Assist, Hill-start Assist Control and an enhanced body structure and platform structure.
The car is available in nine exterior colours.
