Dr. Abid Bashir is an established Nephrologist currently serving patients within North Georgia Nephrology Consultants in Athens, Georgia and surrounding counties, and he is also affiliated with Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center, Clearview Regional Medical Center, St. Mary's Hospital, Landmark Hospital. Featuring over two decades of experience as an Internist, and over 17 years as a practicing Nephrologist, he has a special expertise in hypertension, diabetes, dialysis, transplant management, and chronic kidney disease. He manage all aspects of nephrology and hypertension.

Dr. Bashir's acclaimed career in medicine began in 1990, when he graduated with his Medical Degree from King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai, Elmhurst Hospital in New York. Pursuing advanced medical training, Dr. Bashir went on to undertake his fellowship training in Nephrology at UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, followed by additional Nephrology training at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, NY affiliated with Albert Einstein University. He also completed a transplant rotation at Albert Einstein University Hospital in Bronx, NY, and Peritoneal Dialysis training and rotation at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Bashir is board certified in both Nephrology and Internal Medicine, has earned the coveted title of Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and remains a distinguished member of the American Society of Nephrology and the Renal Physicians Association.

Dr. Bashir is noted as an expert in home dialysis, in center dialysis, evaluation and management of kidney diseases, management of ICU nephrology, acute electrolyte disturbances, acid base disorder, edema management, evaluation and treatment of blood and protein in the urine, medical management of kidney stone, evaluation and medical management of anemia associated with chronic kidney disease, and in bone mineral disease associated with underlying chronic kidney disease. Moreover, he serves as Medical Director for the FMC Clarke County Dialysis Clinic, as well as the Loganville Dialysis Unit, and performs adjuvant teaching of nephrology to residents and medical students while making hospital rounds at Augusta University. Dr. Bashir attributes his success to his passion for medicine and pride in taking care of critically ill patients, and when he is not working he enjoys playing tennis, hiking, traveling, and spending time with his family.
