Call it a comeback — and a remarkable one — for Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen, who was named the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year Saturday night by the Associated Press.
Allen, a five-year veteran whose past two seasons prior to 2017 were derailed suddenly by a torn ACL and lacerated kidney, respectively, ranked third in the NFL in receiving yards (1,393) and fourth in catches (102) in his first 16-game season.
Allen was Philip Rivers' go-to target on the league's No. 1 passing offense, with the pair's December surge nearly helping the Bolts turn an 0-4 start into a playoff berth. Allen put together one of the most prolific three-game stretches in NFL history from Weeks 11-13, when he totaled 33-436-4 receiving. Allen had at least 100 receiving yards and a touchdown in five of the Chargers' final six wins.
