Three held with seven firearms, live cartridges

Indore : Police on Saturday arrested three persons for supplying firearms in Betma area and recovered 7 country-made pistols and live cartridges from them. The accused are being questioned for their other accomplices.

According to SP (west) VivekSingh, the police received tip-off that two youths were waiting for someone at Depalpur Road to handover firearms after which a team from Betma police station led by Inspector Siyaram Singh Gurjar cordoned off the area and nabbed two persons.

The accused first tried to mislead the police but later confessed to their crime. They were identified as Chand Khan of Birla Gram Nagda and five firearms and three live cartridges were recovered from him. His accomplice Ritesh Jain of Nagda was too arrested with a country-made pistol and two cartridges.


During sustained questioning, they confessed to supply a pistol to Shelu Verma of Betma after which police arrested Shelu too and recovered the pistol and live cartridges.

During investigation it was also revealed that the accused were associated with Rais Nayta of Betma. Rais was supplying them firearms. They are being questioned for other crimes. The police said that Chand Khan was a notorious criminal and was earlier booked by the police of Nagda and Birla Gram for his criminal activities.
