TORONTO — Tosaint Ricketts remains sidelined with a thyroid abnormality that has seen him miss multiple preseason games, the Toronto Sun has learned.

Toronto FC’s third-choice striker travelled to Los Angeles last week but has since been held out of training.

It’s unclear when Ricketts could return to action. The club hasn’t put a timeline on the Canadian international’s recovery.

Toronto FC returns to Toronto Saturday night after wrapping its first leg of preseason with a 2-2 draw against Los Angeles FC Friday afternoon.

The Reds head to Mexico on Tuesday to resume preseason. The club has scheduled friendlies against Club America and Pachuca.

Ricketts’ health concerns come after coach Greg Vanney told the Sun this week he’s looking for one of TFC’s forward prospects — Ben Spencer, Jordan Hamilton, Ayo Akinola — to contribute this season.
