SIOUX CITY | Snow may be on its way to Siouxland over the weekend and at the beginning of the work week.
Brad Adams, a meteorologist with the Sioux Falls National Weather Service, said very light snow is a possibility on Saturday night, with slightly heavier snow possible on Monday.
"There is a threat for some light snow over the next couple of days," Adams said. "Not a whole lot."
Saturday night's flurries could bring "a couple tenths of an inch" of snow, Adams said. The snow probably won't begin until late at night.
Monday's snowfall will be "a little more vigorous," Adams said. Snow is expected to begin sometime around 9 a.m., and total accumulation could be 2.5 inches in Sioux City.
Adams said winds will be fairly weak, so blowing snow shouldn't be much of an issue.
East of town, in areas around Moville, Cherokee and Spencer, snowfall could be closer to 3 or 3.5 inches.
Temperature-wise, Sioux City is going to be chilly on Sunday, with high temperatures around 13 degrees. The low temperature Sunday night is is expected to be only 4 degrees.
On Monday, the high temperature is expected to be around 22 degrees, with a low on Monday night around 2 degrees.
