THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A new women’s organisation has been formed under the aegis of FEFKA, which is a union of the technicians, as a reply to Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) formed by the female artists of the Malayalam film industry.

The first meeting of the organisation was convened in Kochi on Saturday, attended by noted film directors Sibi Malayil and B Unnikrishnan. Dubbing artists turned actress Bhagyalakshmi is the condonation committee president of the new organisation.

It has been reported that the first meeting held at Kochi was attended by more than 200 members including actors, dubbing artists, choreographers, make-up artists and more. The meeting ended after agreeing to hold meetings again at regular intervals.

Meanwhile, it is being speculated that the rift between WCC and FEFKA inspired the formation of the new organisation. It is well known that people like Bhagyalakshmi not being included in the WCC had been a matter of discord.

Nevertheless, some members of the FEFKA have said that this is not an organisation as an answer to the WCC but just a get-together of the female members of FEFKA.
