Award ceremony, film festival held in honour of late Salim Bahwan

The film festival and award ceremony to commemorate the achievements of late Omani filmmaker Salim Bahwan concluded at the Oman Film Society (OFS) recently.

Titled, Salim Bahwan Award Ceremony, the first edition of the event witnessed the presence of filmmakers from Oman as well as other countries from the GCC.

Speaking about the competition, Mohammad al Kindi, president of OFS said, “This was the first time that we had the event in memory of the Omani actor and director Salim Bahwan. We didn’t expect much crowd this year but the response was overwhelming. We showcased both short and feature films by directors around Oman and the neighbouring GCC countries.”
He added that the films showcased various issues impacting Oman and the Arab world.
Qatari director Salim al Mansouri won the first prize for Asilah Marine and the second prize was won by director Mazoon al Aareemieh for his film Saeed. Salim Bahwan’s son was also felicitated at the end of the ceremony.
