SHE'S not just a pretty face.
Caloundra's 23-year-old Taylor Beutel wants to be the world's next Miss Galaxy, but she also wants to pursue a career in medical science and neurology.
By competing in the country's 2018 Miss Galaxy Australia competition, Ms Beutel wants to prove there's more to a woman than "just appearances".
The Coast woman wants to use the platform to promote medical research into brain disorders, but an international modelling career also wouldn't hurt.
She will leave to compete in the Surfers Paradise competition in March, where she will walk the catwalk in three different categories; swimwear, gown and fashion choice.
The last segment of the pageant will be an interview - the most important aspect of the whole competition to Ms Beutel.
"I want to show people being female isn't just about having a pretty face or attractive body," she said.
"Medicine and modelling are two very different careers, both of which I would love to do.
"Of course, it would be a dream to be able to model overseas.
Ms Beutel has completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science, majoring in clinical measurement and minoring in anatomy and physiology. She also minored in medical micro-biology.
If she wins the competition, she will compete in the 2018 Galaxy International Pageant, to be held in July 2018 in Florida.
