Conte chats to Giroud in Chelsea training as Willian and Luiz work hard alongside new face

OLIVIER GIROUD has trained with the rest of his new Chelsea team-mates as he faces a race to be fit in time for the Blues' clash with Watford on Monday (8pm).

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte will have been pleased to see several of his key men on the training pitch yesterday as the Blues prepare to take on Watford.

Conte is without star striker Alvaro Morata due to a back injury, and may be forced to hand Olivier Giroud his debut at Vicarage Road despite the French striker having only just returned from a hamstring injury.

An alternative for is to deploy Eden Hazard as a lone frontman and Willian and Pedro out wide, with the former back training following injury, although young winger Callum Hudson-Odoi is pushing to feature after his Premier League debut against Bournemouth.

David Luiz also took part in the session at Cobham on Friday, although Conte has ruled the centre-back out of Monday’s clash.

Andreas Christensen is sidelined too, meaning Antonio Rudiger and Gary Cahill are likely to line up alongside Cesar Azpilicueta in defence.
