JVM readying to accept Hemant as CM candidate

Taking a stance well ahead of the not too far Assembly polls, the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) has gone ahead and spread its wings. At the same time the party is making itself understand the political reality and willing to reconsider its precondition about projecting its chief Babulal Marandi as the next Chief Minister of Jharkhand.

Latest in this move is induction of Dilip Singh Namdhari, son of veteran politician and first Assembly Speaker Inder Singh Namdhari, into the party fold. Namdhari having considerable clout in Palamu region is expected to boost party’s prospects in as many as five Assembly segments.

Declaring this, the senior Namdhari has invited all his “well wishers on February 4 at Shivaji Maidan of Daltonganj in good numbers so that even Babulal Marandi gets overwhelmed to see this.” Party also confirms that presence of the leader would help it considerably.

“We also wanted to have good people at the party forum so that our hold into the society gets better. The party believes that adding Namdhari ji with the party would not only help us in Palamu division but all over the State since he has been a leader with unparallel track record and has hold over the politics better than many,” said JVM principal general secretary Pradeep Yadav.

At the same time the party has gone ahead looking for its options in case it has to backtrack from claims over chief ministerial position for the sake ‘mahagathbandhan’ or grand alliance in Jharkhand. “Grand alliance is our priority and for that we may have to compromise with some of our conditions. Our effort would be to concede a bit, if required. Not only JMM and Congress but likeminded anti-BJP forces even from outside the State are needed to come together to rub the BJP in 2019-20,” added the leader.

However he added that saying anything concrete now on that would be too early a statement and final call on the issue was yet to be taken at the party forum. “Talks have been there. Neither the JMM has in clear terms demanded for CM post, if any grand alliance is to take place, nor the matter has been discussed inside the JVM. But we understand that flexibility is required in such cases and comprises do happen,” said the MLA.

Similar were the views of party’s vice president Saba Ahmed who went on telling the JMM to make its demand clear. “If they feel that only Hemant Soren would be CM candidate for the grand alliance then the JMM should say this openly.

As far as the JVM is concerned, we can do anything for the sake of the alliance and to make sure that votes are not divided among anti-BJP forces once again,” said the senior leader who referred to several outings of the leaders from both the party over the issues concerning people of the State and their lives.
