HUTCHINSON -- Phyllis Jane Hooker, 88, died January 26, 2018, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born September 20, 1929, in Belpre, KS, to Leon and Helen (McGinty) Gales.

HUTCHINSON -- Phyllis Jane Hooker, 88, died January 26, 2018, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born September 20, 1929, in Belpre, KS, to Leon and Helen (McGinty) Gales.
She married Robert A. Hooker on February 9, 1952, in LaCrosse, KS. He died December 31, 2006. She attended Fort Hays Kansas State College and was a member of Theta Sigma Upsilon sorority. She was also a member of PEO, VFW Auxiliary, and First United Methodist Church, among other organizations. Phyllis was, above all else, a homemaker, whose greatest joy was in entertaining family and providing elaborate home cooked meals for family get-togethers. In addition to being an excellent cook, she was also an accomplished artist and sculptor, having won numerous awards with her clay sculptures, woodcarvings, oil and watercolor paintings, and pencil sketches.
Survivors include: sons, Robert D. Hooker (Taronda), Breck A. Hooker, all of Hutchinson, Paul M. Hooker(LeAnne), Spring Hill; grandchildren, Dr. Garrett W. Hooker (Maria D. Wittman, DDS), Salina, Jonathan E. Hooker, Manhattan, Sarah E. Hooker, Tulsa, OK, Matt and Jake Hooker, both of Spring Hill; and a great-granddaughter, Annie Jane Hooker, Salina.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; stepfather, Adolf Goetz; brother, Ronnie Gales; sisters, Mary Kay (Goetz) Brown and Rebecca 'Becky' (Goetz) Greenway.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 101 E. 1st, Hutchinson, Kansas with the Reverend Jeff Slater officiating. Burial will take place at a later time in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hutchinson Art Center, Hutchinson, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
