Top cop unveils reception hall

Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik on Friday inaugurated the Reception Hall and Kids playing area along with the Canteen and Souvenir Shop at Police Training School Malviya Nagar. The new facility has come up to cater to the women complainants who visit the office of the Special Police Unit for Women & Children (SPUWAC).

Speaking on the occasion, Patnaik reiterated that Delhi Police is committed to spread the training sessions further more to include more number of students, which would empower women towards their own safety. Earlier Delhi Police trainers presented a saluting performance showcasing self defence techniques, like breaking burning locks of tiles with bare hands and several combat methods for self defence.

Earlier SPUWAC was functioning from Nanak Pura. It is now functioning in PTS Malviya Nagar complex. “As part of its mandate to address the issues of Crime against Women, SPUWAC deals with a large volume of women complainants daily.  Many a times they are accompanied by their children and relatives.  In order to cater to the needs of the visitors including women and children, a Reception Hall cum Kids’ Playing Area was envisioned in the office complex.  In addition to this a new canteen for staff and visitors along with a souvenir shop has also been established in the complex”, DCP Esha Pandey said.
