Imphal, February 02 2018: For the first time, Manipur would be covered in the National Tiger Conservation Authority's tiger census.

The Inspector General of National Tiger Conservation Authority's Guwahati regional office has already arrived at Imphal to give training to enumerators who would take part in the tiger census.

A training programme for the enumerators would be held tomorrow at the Forest head office, Sanjenthong.

The tiger census would begin within the current month and it would continue till the month of May, informed a source.

The tiger census would first focus on Tamenglong, Senapati and Ukhrul districts where there are reports about presence of tiger.

The census would also cover other animals which are included in the family of big cats.
