Dear Graham

I had been a professional musician for 20 years, never big time and only rarely full-time, but touring and recording and getting a lot out of it. Three years ago, a "fan" got my address off the electoral register and attacked me outside my home. I know this was exceptional: the fan had mental health issues and is now receiving treatment. But it's all but killed any desire to make music, especially live. I have had counselling, and plenty of support from friends in the business and beyond, but my confidence is shot. I am forcing myself to practise, but I get the shakes when I play in front of anyone, even in a rehearsal with trusted bandmates. Do you have any advice on how to get back out there?
