CLAFLIN – Central Plains rattled off two wild shots to pull away every time St. John tried to pull in.
The first came on a 3-pointer on the wing by Myles Menges that ricocheted around the rim to fall through the net at the end of the first quarter. The second came on a half court heave by junior Devin Ryan as the Oilers sprinted to the locker room after the long distance call.
An Alex Barton layup pushed the lead to double digits in the fourth quarter as Central Plains defeated St. John 43-32 Friday night. Menges and Alex Hickel both had 11 of the Oilers. Trey Fisher had 11 for St. John.
The Oilers remain undefeated at 17-0 on the season. St. John falls to 10-4. Central Plains will play Concordia Tuesday. St. John has a date with LaCrosse.
