South Carolina senior A’ja Wilson and sophomore Tyasha Harris earned spots on their positional national player of the year watch lists this week. Wilson is one of 10 candidates for the Lisa Leslie Award, while Harris is on The Dawn Staley Award Midseason Watch List. The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the WBCA announced the Lisa Leslie Award watch list Friday and will narrow the field to five finalists in March.

• The No. 19 women's tennis team (4-1) earned a 4-0 sweep against Clemson on Thursday. The Gamecocks won the doubles point and three consecutive singles matches in straight sets to defeat the Tigers for the second straight match at the Carolina Tennis Center. With the win, South Carolina evened the all-time series at 27-27.

CLEMSON: The women’s basketball team fell to Pittsburgh, 58-42, on Thursday night at Littlejohn Coliseum. With the loss, the Tigers dropped to 11-12 (1-9 ACC) on the season, while the Panthers improved to 10-13 (2-8 ACC).

USC UPSTATE: Noelia Acuna and Carol Sigaki earned singles victories but they were unable to overcome three straight singles wins by Presbyterian College as the Blue Hose defeated the Spartans 5-2 in the home opener on a blustery afternoon at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex. Presbyterian College improved to 2-1 while USC Upstate fell to 0-3.

• Junior DeNisha Swain set the Division I era single-game assist record with 12 but the Spartans were unable to hold off a hot-shooting Lipscomb squad in a 97-78 loss to the Lady Bisons on Thursday night at Allen Arena. Lipscomb improved to 8-14 overall and 4-3 in the ASUN Conference while USC Upstate dropped to 7-15 and 2-5.

LIMESTONE: Early points in matches across the board helped the wrestling team to a 28-12 victory over Belmont Abbey College in ECAC action on Thursday.

• The men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Conference Carolinas opponent Mount Olive at the Timken Center.

WOFFORD: The women’s basketball team fell 81-77 to Samford on Thursday. The Bulldogs pulled off the victory despite a career high 35 points from Wofford’s freshman guard Da’Ja Green. The loss moves Wofford to 10-13 overall and 3-5 in the Southern Conference with six games remaining in the regular season.
