In the main event, former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida (22-8 MMA, 14-8 UFC) fights in front of his home fans against unbeaten former college football standout Eryk Anders (10-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC).

Lyoto Machida vs. Eryk Anders
Round 1 – Anders closes distance and Machida pops him with a low kick. Jabs trade. Anderson tries to corner Machida, who’s on his bike. Sneaks in a few kicks. Anders still inching in. Low kick sweeps Anders off his feet, and Machida jumps in to capitalize. Punch lands early from up top. Closed guard for Anders, who’s trying to trap the wrists. Machida allows space and then stands overhead, kicking the legs. The ex-champ re-engages as Anders kicks at him. Low kicks for Machida. He won’t let Anders up. Machida very cautious overhead. Low kicks are comfortable, though. Every time Anders posts an arm, Machida pursues as though he’s going to strike. Goddard warn, and Machida leaps in with a punch as Anders gets up. With 90 seconds left, Machida tries to slip in his straight left. Anders closes, looking for a reply. Machida circles before he can let loose anything. Kicks holding up Anders. Machida circles to center cage and resumes his bouncing. Low kicks and circling. A left straight clips Anders, and a few low kicks close the frame. MMAjunkie scores the opening round 10-9 for Machida.
Round 2 – Machida and Anders trade low and high kicks. Feints from the ex-champ. Anders closing and cuts off Machida with a straight left. They’re clinched against the fence. Anders pushing for takedown, but Machida scoots away. Circling from “The Dragon,” who’s trying to set up the counter. Quick combo inside pushes Anders back. He’s just chasing Machida, who’s constantly on his feet. Anderson tries a jab. Machida gets too close, and Anders stings him with a left straight. Lunging knee from Machida, a trademark weapon. Low kicks slap Anders. A charge is just a bit short. Big leg kick from Machida. Anders finally corners Machida and clips him with a left, but Machida manages to escape. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Machida, putting him up 20-18.
Round 3 – Low kick opens the round. Anders again on the offensive. Machida kicks to the body, and Anders intercepts for the takedwon. As Machida gets up, he takes a knee that opens a huge cut on his nose. He tries the one-two and intercepts Anders’ next charge with a punch. Body kick slaps Anders. Machida doing his elusive thing. Anders can’t seem to catch him. Body kick for Machida, who’s doing just enough to keep Anders at distance. It’s a classic Machida performance, in other words. Midway point of the round. One-two good for Machida, and Anders wants to exchange. He misses big with his left hand, and Machida goes back to his rhythm. Then, a nice knee and left hand as they clash in close. Anders can’t capitalize, though, because Machida is out before he can get there. Straigth left sneaks in for ex-champ. Then Anders reaches on a left and connects. He immediately goes for a takedown and is stalled against the cage. Running out of time, he lands a knee and kicks after Machida as they break off. MMAjunkie scores the third frame 10-9 for Anders, and it’s 29-28 Machida so far.
Round 4 – Straight left for Machida good early, and Anders misses wide. Body kick sets up clinch, and the two are finally scrapping. Anders again in close to the clinch and gets shrugged off. Machida with a body kick. Anders swings for the fences chasing down Machida, but he’s just a little bit short, so his punches aren’t at their explosive peak. Machida again with that body kick. Anders redoubles his efforts. Straight left clips him. Anders again forces the issue and knocks Machida to the mat. Machida gets to his feet and takes another knee. Anders working for the takedown. Blood all over Anders’ back is Machida’s. Anders tries for head control and knees the legs. Machida finally escapes. Anders catches a body kick and drives again for a takedown. Single-leg attempt no good. Anders working the cage as Machida stays heavy. Anders changes directions and briefly plants Machida. Short-lived victory. Another single-leg flops. Machida nails a knee to the body and peels off before Anders can reply. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Machida, and it’s 39-37.
Round 5 – Machida leads with body kick, and Anders misses on the counter. Leg attack again good for the ex-champ. Anders again on the chase. Head kick blocked, and Anders misses on the counter attempt. Body kick good again. Anders jabs the body. Machida still elusive. Body kick met by counter that misses wide for Anders, and again, Machida away before he can get caught. Front kick pushes back Anders. Midway point of the final round. Anders punches into the clinch and traps Machida against the fence. They trade knees, and Machida shucks off Anders. One-two short for Machida. Body kick still good. Lunging knee good for Machida, and Anders can’t land on the comeback. Another body kick. Last minute. Anders running out of time. It looks like he’s going to end staring. Machida gets too fancy and spins for a kick and Anders briefly puts him down before spilling over the back as Machida rights himself. They fire off a few combos at each other, with neither fighter landing a conclusive blow, to close out a very tactical and lackluster main event. MMAjunkie scores the final round 10-9 for Machida, who should take the 49-46 score.

Valentina Shevchenko vs. Priscila Cachoeira
Round 1 – Cachoeira gets a counter right hand on her first punch committment, and then gets popped with a left. A right hook slams in, and Cachoeira staggers back. She’s getting tagged clean. Shevchenko switches tactics and goes for the takedown, easily getting it. Elbows and punches start from Shevchenko. Cachoeira getting tagged against the fence. Already bloody, it doesn’t look like she’ll survive long. Big elbows and punches from Shevchenko. The octagon canvas is getting painted, and we’re not even at the halfway point. Shevchenko posturing up and having her way with Cachoeira. Shevchenko pulls free from an armbar setup, and more punches and elbows come her way. Closed guard, and a sitting duck. Cachoeira is going to survive, though. When she gets up, her face is a mess. MMAjunkie scores the round 10-7 for Shevchenko.
Round 2 – Cachoeira comes in swinging and takes more heavy counters before they tie up, and Shevchenko quickly transitions to a takedown. Cachoeira’s attempt to right herself is thwarted quickly, and Shevchenko settles into side control. She’s setting up a crucifix. Cachoeira trapped again. Punches in bunches. Now elbows. Shevchenko goes for an americana and almost gets it. Another crucifix, and Shevchenko goes to work with her free hand. This isn’t competitive. Cachoeira rolls to her stomach and gets free of the crucifix, but she’s soon flat on her back and taking more shots. Fish out of water on the mat. Shevchenko tries to mount and is blocked by Cachoeira’s legs. She settles for more punches and elbows. Mount. Shevchenko pounds away, and Cachoeira gives up her back. Back mount. Cachoeira taking reems of damage. Is Yamasaki going to stop this? Shevchenko won’t get it with her punches, so she grabs the rear-naked choke. Cachoeira forced to tap, but the reality is the fight should have been stopped minutes sooner.

Round 1 – Green comes out in a side stance and stays light on his feet. Body kicks from Prazeres, who’s in a low stance. Green jabbing the body. Prazeres closes. Prazeres uses a kick to set up a clinch and takedown, but Green manages to pop up. In the clinch, he takes down Prazeres and gets to the back as Prazeres tries to get up. Prazeres tries a sweep and misses before reversing position in a scramble. Green turns him and fires off knees at the midway point of the round. Green disengages and Prazeres stalks forward. Swing and a miss from Prazeres. Big kicks from the Brazilian. Green sneaks in a straight right. They clash with punches, and Prazeres seizes the takedown opportunity. Prazeres again wins a scramble as Green tries to reverse. Prazeres fires shots to the head that Goddard deems illegal. He pauses to warn Prazeres. Fight is restarted with both scrambling, and Prazeres again goes for the takedown. Green resists and gets his own takedown on Prazeres, who powers up. In the clinch, Prazeres tries a headlock throw and winds up on bottom, setting up for a triangle as the round ends. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Prazeres.
Round 2 – Prazeres closes in as Green circles off. Green goes back to body jab. Prazeres sneaks in a left hook, and they’re suddenly slugging. Green thinks better of exposing himself to a takedown and circles. Prazeres slaps him with an overhand right. Follow-ups miss. Green takes advantage of Prazeres charge and gets a takedown. Prazeres trying to shrimp out. He kicks off Green and fires off an overhand right. Another bolo prompts a Green takedown attempt against the fence. Prazeres elbows the head. Green struggles to get the takedown and settles for clinch. Prazeres explodes out and the two pummel in center octagon. Prazeres turns and twists for a takedown, and he immediately climbs into mount. Green turning his back, and Prazeres working for an arm triangle. Green bucks and reverses, popping back to his feet. Prazeres chases with punches. Green ducks under and winds up in a guillotine. The attempt misses, but now Prazeres is on top having his way with Green. North-south choke setup for Prazeres with 30 seconds to go. Green tries to walk his legs to take away the angle. He survives. Round 3 – Prazeres advances, and he looks a little more flat-footed. Green goes big with a left hand and misses. He circles, and the two clash heads. Green sneaks in a one-two. Prazeres still advancing. He misses a leg grab opportunity. Big right hand good. Green takes a chance to land in close with a one-two. He’s so worried about the takedown, however, that he’s not letting go. The pace of the fight, and the huge weight disparity, obviously don’t help. Prazeres wings big shots in. A right hand stings Green in close. He tries the same in return. Not the same outcome. Midway point of the round. One-two from Green leaves no mark on Prazeres, who fires off his right again. Prazeres winds up on a big right hand, throwing it like a fastball. A combinatino sets up a takedown for Prazeres, who again tries to advance to mount. Green turns and makes himself scarce before pitching to his hands and knees. Prazeres pounds the head at Green’s back. Goddard warns for the back of the head. Prazeres is confused and keeps punching. Stalemate. Green pitches forward and almost sets up a reversal before running out of time. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Prazeres, giving him the 30-27 decision.

Round 1 – Johnson jabs and circles before firing off his power punch. Charges and meets gloves and a low kick. Golm tests his right and it’s blocked. Johnson straight forward, blasts of three or four punches. They tie up, and Golm knees the body while Johnson punches it. Golm walks them to the cage, but Johnson redirects and reverses. Golm explodes off and they pummel to center octagon. Knees from both. So far, no takedown attempts. Golm with a trip attempt. Johnson trying to dirty box. They separate. Straight left for Johnson good. Golm a little tentative this round. A combo sends Golm reeling back. He circles, and Johnson closes into the clinch again. Phonebooth fight. Johnson walks his foe to the cage and fires knees. Golm not doing much. He then reverses. Johnson bleeding over his right eye. Johnson peels off with a few right hands. Johnson charges again and nothing doing. Leg kick stings Johnson, and they lock up again. Johnson walks his man to the cage and tries for a takedown, but a fence grab keeps Golm upright. Round ends with Johnson working in tight. MMAjunkie scores the opening frame 10-9 for Johnson.
Round 2 – Johnson wings big hooks early. Golm goes back with a head kick, and they’re slugging. Johnson ties up and takes elbows to the side of the head that deter his takedown attempt. Johnson points to his head as they reset. Body kick good for Golm. Johnson charges into the clinch again and knees his way to the fence. Golm turns him and works his own knees. Johnson changes levels, and Golm scoots free. Johnson ducks under a right hand and presses the fight to the fence. Knees, of course. Midway point. Golm turns Johnson and does the same. Johnson misses on a sweep after reversing. Punches on the inside. Golm floundering against the cage, and Johnson isn’t giving him any space. Golm turns him and escapes with an elbow. Less than one minute to work. Looks like another big clash of heads as Johnson closes into the clinch. Another smother-fest against the cage. Johnson peels off with a spinning elbow, breaking up the monotony. It misses wide, as does his spinning back kick. The frame ends with Johnson lining up a muay Thai plumb. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Johnson, who’s up 20-18.
Round 3 – Golm tries to make Johnson meet his elbow at the outset, then circles off when Johnson closes distance. He manages to stay at distance early with a few punches and kicks. Johnson looks for a way in. Inside kick stings Johnson. Not long before he initiates the clinch, punching his way in. Dirty boxing inside. Golm escapes and resets. Golm tries a straight right. Johnson stays in his face with combinations. Nothing is hurting Golm too bad, but a subsequent combo cracks Golm as he backpedals. Johnson goes for the takedown and can’t get it, so he resorts to his previous tactic of punishing the legs and smothering Golm against the fence. Maia separates them, not seeing enough variation. Johnson charges and is ensnared in a plumb. Golm cracks a knee to the jaw. Johnson keeps charging and repays Golm with a trio of punches before smothering again. Knees and punches in close. Less than one minute to work. Golm isn’t getting free. A brief window of space isn’t enough to keep Johnson off him. Big knee in the clinch for Golm, and the two end the frame potshotting one last time before the final bell sounds. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Johnson, giving him the 30-27 score.

Round 1 – Andrade lets Vera know he’s in a fight immediately with a combination. Vera on the defensive, and tries to circle away as Andrade advances again. Feints from the Brazilian. Vera attacks the legs and then tries to go high. Andrade repays with a kick to the body. Andrade really loading up with all his shots as Vera tries to counter. Right hand glances off Vera before Andrade resets. Vera catches a kick, and the two trade punches as he holds the leg against the fence. Seeing no takedown, he lets go, and they reset. Vera working a left hook to Andrade’s fast one-twos. Andrade clips him when he gets too liberal with a kick. Vera picks off a big right and uses his legs to push Andrade back. Vera going high a lot with kicks. Andrade sneaks in a right hand. His hands appear to be a big faster than Vera’s, but Vera’s fundamentals appear more sound. Finally, Vera comes back hard on Andrade, winging punches and kicks as he charges forward. Nothing big landed, so he’s forced to reset. Andrade goes on the offensive and punches the body and legs. When Vera wheels a kick, Andrade ducks under and goes for the takedown. He briefly climbs on the back before adjusting and taking Vera down with a trip. A few hammers from the Brazilian end the first frame. MMAjunkie scores the first round 10-9 for Andrade.
Round 2 – Vera inching forward before the opening bell. Vera quickly goes to kicks and barely misses on a head kick. Andrade goes headhunting again and clips Vera a few times. Vera tries to chase after with a head kick and a big punch, but he can’t make it work. Andrade stings him with a left hook on a counter-charge. Vera’s right eye bleeding. They trade punches, and Andrade instantly in trouble as he indicates an eyepoke happened. Andrade doesn’t stop and looks for the finish. Vera gets his wits back and tries to defuse Andrade’s advance. An overhand right cracks Vera, and he’s bleeding badly from his eye. Vera seems a step behind and not really in the fight. He goes airborne with a knee, but it’s way off. Spinning backfist for Andrade good, and he punishes the body with a shot. Wheel kick no good. Less than one minute to go, and Vera’s coaches are begging him to get in the fight. He obliges with a head kick that misses, but it isn’t long before he’s fending off bombs from Andrade. Over and over again, the Brazilian is backing his foe up with big shots. He ducks under for a clinch and ends the frame at Vera’s back, looking for a takedown. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Andrade, putting him up 20-18.
Round 3 – Early firefight for the pair. Vera trying to make something happen with combinations of punches and kicks. Andrade firing back and manages to stop the onslaught. Nice jab for the Brazilian. Early flurry gives way to Vera’s previous rhythm, and Andrade again takes the initiative with in-and-out attacks, pressing back Vera. Kicks again Vera’s favored weapon. Swing and a miss on big left for Vera. Midway point of the third round. Another lead right for Andrade. He’s just short on his right hand, but that won’t be for long. Vera tries to corner Andrade, who cuts an angle and gets out before he can put anything together. Overhand bolo from Andrade. They attack each other’s legs. Vera doubles up. Out of nowhere, Vera flips off Andrade. That ups the pace a little bit, and Vera lands a nice right hand. Not enough to deter Andrade, though, and the Brazilian lands to the body. Charge again puts Vera against the fence. Spinning backfist lands, and the two fire away in the final seconds. Neither land the big finish, and Andrade celebrates at the final bell. Round 1 – Smith closes slowly, and Santos fires off big kicks to the legs and body. Santos appears to slip on something and suddenly backpedals. He manages to recover before Sith and make him pay. Then out of nowhere, spin kick cracks Smith. Another kick rattles him, and it looks bad. But somehow, Smith powers into the clinch and get Santos to the mat, incredibly landing in mount. Smith takes a moment to clear his head, but doesn’t get long before Santos pulls off an old-school sweep and goes to work with an elbow and punches. Stuffed against the cage, Smith hiking his legs for a possible submission. Santos pitching forward and pounding the body. Halfway through the round. Santos still working Smith’s left flank. Action stalls. Goddard warns for action. Santos obliges with a few punches. As he postures up, Smith gets to sitting and tries not to get his head punched off against the cage. Santos punches the head as Smith grabs a leg and gets back to his feet. Smith chases after Santos and lands a big shot. Almost simultaneously, he takes one that drops him. Santos charges back and tries to finish. Smith on his hands and knees trying to survive as Santos pounds away at his head. Crazy round. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-8 for Santos.
Round 2 – Santos cut above his left eye. He jumps in with a switch kick and tries to finish with another. Smith complains of a groin shot and tries to fire back as Santos swings for the fences. Body kick tags Smith in the liver, and he’s again forced to the mat. Smith pitches forward and holds on for dear life to Santo’s leg. Santos pounds away, and Smith is not intelligently defending himself. Goddard steps in to call it, and Santos has the TKO.

Round 1 – Means keeps Moraes at distance with punching combos. Moraes covers up and wings a few bolos. They wind up in the clinch, and Moraes pulls guard. Means in butterfly guard, and Moraes tries to tie up his arms. Rabbit punches from the American as he tries to figure out his next move. Moraes elevates, then ties up the body. Means has space, and he scoots away. Means using his straight strikes to keep Moraes away. Body kick caught, and Moraes drops to his butt rather than stay upright. Means wants him up, and they restart. Uppercut from Means met with shot that cracks him. Means tries to get it back and ups his punching volume. Means goes to the body and takes a hook. Then another right hook. Moraes’ unconventional punching style is frustrating him. They clinch up briefly. Moraes catching Means on the back end of exchanges. Left elbow from Means connects. Moraes shoots and is stuffed. Moraes pushes Means back with a heavy straight right. Means leaps in with a knee, but nothing doing. Means tries to corner Moraes and lets a few shots go before running out of time. MMAjunkie scores the opening frame 10-9 for Moraes.
Round 2 – They clash early, and Means complains of a head butt. Moraes goes high with a kick and it lands. High volume of exchanges in close. Moraes misses on his big hooks. Means trying to find a way in. Body attack and knee for Means. Caught kick opens up punch for American. Left hook sneaks in for Moraes, who covers up and moves back. Smelling blood, Moraes comes forward and wants to brawl. He catches Means with a right and stops a brief counter-charge. Winging hooks still Moraes’ best weapon. Again, Means finding the spaces in between to counter. Means indicates eyepoke, and Moraes tries to capitalize wiht a counter. More body work from Means, who’s trying to get in and out and use his jab to keep Moraes at bay. Moraes trying to turn up the tempo and still throwing for the stands. It’s not working as well this round, though. Means is hip to the timing and is getting out of the way of most bolos. Question mark kick lands for Means, and Moraes fires back a wild combo. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Means, tying it up at 19-19.
Round 3 – Same strategy for Means – fire off combos and get out of the way of the hooks. Moraes trying to make something happen and swinging for fences. Means staying tight and covering up, firing back counters. Knee kick deflates combo from Moraes. Pair of hooks good for Means, and he tries to get it back. Big body kick for Moraes, and Means goes on the offensive. This is all stand up and shows no sign of going to the mat. Moraes sneaks in a head kick, but Means takes it again pushes Moraes to the fence. A knee to the body appears to hurt Moraes. Means putting his combos together and sneaking in shots. Moraes appears to be running out of stream and looks frustrated. Still in the game, though, firing off those big hooks. Hard to fire them when a right hook hits him before he can let one go. Means just chipping away as Moraes looks for the home run. Check right hook there all day for Means. Moraes tries to set up a takedown, and he’s shucked off. He flops to the mat after a clash and Means briefly engages on the mat before disengaging. Moraes up with seconds to go. They go toe to toe and fling big punches in the final seconds. Moraes appears to get the better of it, but it’s not enough to erase a decisive round for Means, 10-9. MMAjunkie scores the round fight 29-28 for Means, but it’s Brazil, so we’ll see.

Round 1 – Patrick fires a kick eaerly, and he spills to the mat when they trade kicks. Hadzovic winds up on bottom in the ensuing scramble, and Patrick passes to side control. Hadzovic powers up and Patrick wraps the head before firing off a knee. Hadzovic spins him and gives up a takedown when Patrick grabs double underhooks. Hadzovic scrambles and gets to his feet, but Patrick is at his back. Another brief trip to the mat when Patrick pulls him backward. Hadzovic rights himself and pops a good elbow after reversing against the cage. Trip attempt from Patrick fails, and they reset in center octagon. Patrick punches in and gets an easy takedown. Hadzovic goes for an arm and punches the head as Patrick stacks him. Patrick pulls out and manages to escape. Hadzovic points out his foot is stuck in Patrick’s shorts, and Yamasaki lends a hand. Patrick, undeterred, pounds away with punches with one minute left to work. Hadzovic trying to sit up against the cage. He kicks off and trades knees before Patrick redirects and again takes him down. Hammerfists from overhead, and Hadzovic is forced to scramble up again. They clinch again, and Hadzovic doesn’t get much time to work before Patrick elevates him and then gets a trip when that fails. Patrick pounds at Hadzovic to end the first frame. Round 2 – Patrick charges in with punches and a few kicks and tries for another takedown. No dice, so he goes flashy with a capoiera kick before redoubling his takedown efforts and putting Hadzovic on the mat. Let the ground and pound begin. Hadzovic rights himself, and Patrick wheels around to his back, securing the neck before hooks. Hadzovic’s chin is tucked, so Patrick has to back off and readjust. Punches do the trick when he doesn’t have it. Hadzovic tries to buck and winds up with Patrick in back control on the mat. Hadzovic is surviving, but not doing much else. Two minutes to work. Hadzovic punching backward. Not much doing. Patrick trying to control his arms. He doesn’t have much of a strategy for opening up the neck. Hadzovic is too savy. Sweep attempt fails, and Patrick ends in back control. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-8 for Patrick, putting him up 20-17.
Round 3 – Hadzovic pushes forward, obviously needing to make something happen. Patrick meets his charge with a kick and punch combo, sending him back. Patrick charges through a knee and finishes the takedown, and he’s got over four minutes to work on top. Hadzovic trying to set up triangle. Patrick pulls out before he can lock it in. Ground and pound again. Hadzovic again bucks for an arm, and there’s nothing there. Three minutes. Hadzovic scoots back to the cage and tries to wrap the head for a guillotine. Nope. Not the dominant frame of round two for Patrick, but he’s doing just enough to hold position. Hadzovic scrambles to his feet and gets pushed back to the cage. Hadzovic knees the torso. Patrick gets a single-leg and follows Hadzovic to the cage, where he transitions to back control and locks up the body triangle to prevent escape. One minute left, and Hadzovic needs a miracle. Time runs out with Patrick unsuccessful in locking up the choke. MMAjunkie scores the final frame 10-9 for the Brazilian, giving him the 30-26 score.

Round 1 – Stevenson in early with punching combination and catches Viana early. They clinch, but Viana tosses Stevenson with a judo throw. Stevenson rights herself and nabs her own takedown. Viana locks up a shoulder and sets up for an armbar. Stevenson scooting to avoid the hold. She gets out the back door, but Viana still has the arm. Viana extends the arm, but doesn’t fully have it locked, and Stevenson escapes. Driving back to her feet, Stevenson works for a takedown, and Viana wraps the neck. Cranking it, she keeps Stevenson at bay against the fence as the round hits the midway point. Viana uses the hold to bully Stevenson to the mat, landing on top. Punches overhead. Stevenson struggling, cut badly on her face. Viana mounts, and Stevenson gives up her back. The choke is on almost before they settle into back control. Stevenson taps, and that’s a wrap.

Round 1 – Soto active circling right away. Alcantara closing, looking for opportunities to catch him. Body kick good early. Soto lands a right and shoots in for a takedown. Nothing there. A body kick sends Soto backward, and Alcantara is all over him. Swarming against the cage, Alcantara unleashes a flurry of punches, and Soto goes out in the midst of them, dropping to his butt. The referee appears to hesitate in stopping the fight, and Soto tries to grab a leg for a desperate sweep as Alcantara continues to pound. Soto’s back hits and deck, and Maia finally calls it. Fight is over, and Alcantara picks up an impressive first-round finish.

Round 1 – The two eye each other warily before Figueiredo misses on a spinning kick and then clinches for a takedown attempt. Easy transition, and the Brazilian is working from half-guard. Morales trying to control the arms and fails on a sweep attempt. Figueiredo scoots them toward fence, and Morales takes a punch from the bottom. He bicycles and somersaults but winds up on his back again as Figueiredo throws down huge hammerfists. Most miss, but the crowd loves it. Morales bicycles against fence again and gets warned for putting his hands in the cage to push off. Figueiredo still working shots from the top. Morales ties up the head. Less than two minutes to go. So far, smooth sailing for Figueiredo. Morales spins using the cage and tries to escape. Herdy hasn’t seen enough action and stands them up. Figueiredo takes a huge punch as he kicks lazily. Figueiredo grabs the neck and tries to close out on a choke. Not much time to work, and position isn’t there. Morales escapes only to take a flurry of hammerfists at the bell. MMAjunkie scores the opening frame 10-9 for Figueiredo.
Round 2 – Figueiredo switches stances as Morales closes. Another stiff jab off for Figueiredo. He charges in again and fires off left hands, but Morales’ guard is good. Figueiredo aggressive early. Morales not pulling the trigger yet. On his first big punch, Figueiredo ducks under and winds up on top as the two spill to the canvas. We’re back to where we were in the first round, with Figueiredo on top and Morales looking to it tied things up. Figueiredo goes to work with ground and pound, but his work rate isn’t very high. Figueiredo postures as Morales bicycles and again draws a slap from Herdy as he grabs the fence. Morales gets up and narrowly avoids punches. Morales closing, looking to make something happen. Big body kick from Figueiredo. First big right hand for Morales, but Figueiredo is unshaken and presses forward with a counter-charge. Morales goes back to his kicks. Figueiredo initiates a clinch and takes a knee before they break. Left hook drops Morales, and he’s in deep trouble as Figueiredo pounds away. With no improvement in position, Herdy steps in to call it off, and we have our first stoppage of the night.
