Mat ghabrao Veer Jawano-2, vah din bhi aa jayega, jab bharat ka bacha bacha, desh bhakt ban jayega,” reads the poem written by six-year-old girl, who died of injuries in suspected sexual assault case in Outer Delhi’s Ranhola.  These lines were written by the minor girl in her poem written on a placard on the occasion of the Republic Day celebrations in her school.

Sitting with her school bag, textbooks and the placard, an aunt of the child told The Pioneer, “She was very hard working and intelligent. She was always active and cheerful. Even though she was just six years old, she was capable of expressing herself well.”

The girl died on Thursday night, six hours after she was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

It was only on Friday morning when the Ganga Ram Hospital informed that she might have been sexually assaulted, the girl’s family came to know about ordeal the girl had under went.

A Class I Student of the RP World School located in Uttam Nagar, the child had complained of severe pain on her left leg after she returned from her tuition.

Though relatives gathered outside the house of the six-year-old girl, they refused to comment on what happened with the child. It was only after the girl’s father returned home after performing her last rites, they opened up.

One of the relatives said  girl’s mother was not told about her death. "We fear she might do something to herself if we tell her about her daughter's death," he added.

Another relative told The Pioneer that the girl's family is preparing for her uncle's wedding ceremony scheduled for February 17. "For past one month, the children were having dance rehearsals daily. On Monday, when she complained of pain in her leg, we thought that it might be muscle strain due to the dance practice. Till late Thursday night, we were not aware of the ordeal the girl had undergone," she said.

“The girl also had rashes on her chest and abdomen but we thought it was due to the some infection,” she added

Worried about the family’s honour, the girl’s grandfather alleged that the Ganga Ram Hospital authorities  are responsible for the death of the girl. “They took Rs 73,000 just for admitting the minor girl for six hours,” he added.
