Four sentenced on felony charges

Four people were sentenced recently on felony charges in Southeast District Court in Jamestown.

Alan Jeremy Van Dam, 39, Michigan, N.D., pleaded guilty to felon in possession of a firearm, a Class C felony. Van Dam was accused of having a firearm or being in control of one on Jan. 2. He had been convicted of a felony in Minnesota within the last five years.

Judge Cherie Clark sentenced Van Dam to six days in the Stutsman County Correctional Center with credit for six days served.

Clark sentenced Van Dam to one year supervised probation. Van Dam was ordered to pay a $35 indigent defense application fee and a $25 victim-witness fee.

A Class C felony is punishable by five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Kelly Ann Heib, 32, 230 4th Ave. SW, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C felony.

Heib was accused of possessing one or more glass pipes for use with methamphetamine on July 5.

Judge Troy LeFevre placed Hieb on 18 months of supervised probation. LeFevre sentenced Hieb to one year and one day in the Stutsman County Correctional Center, with 336 days suspended and credit for one day served. The remaining 29 days shall be served either by inpatient treatment or at the Stutsman County Correctional Center within the next 60 days.

Hieb was ordered to pay a $400 criminal administration fee, $100 defense/facility administration fee, $35 indigent defense application fee, $300 indigent recoupment and $25 victim-witness fee.

Michael James Wagner, 31, 205 Northland Estates, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a Class B felony.

Wagner was accused of possessing marijuana with intent to deliver on Feb. 8.

Judge Troy LeFevre ordered the disposition of sentence deferred until Jan. 24, 2019, at which time, if Wagner has met all requirements of the sentence, the charge would be dismissed. LeFevre sentenced Wagner to 90 days in the Stutsman County Correctional Center with credit for one day served. He is eligible for electronic home monitoring and work release. Wagner was placed on two years of supervised probation.

Wagner is to pay a $650 criminal administration fee, $100 defense/facility fee and $25 victim-witness fee.

A Class B felony is punishable by 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

Jacob George Thompson, 36, Duluth, Minn., pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a Class B felony.

Thompson was accused of possessing marijuana with intent to deliver on July 7.

LeFevre sentenced Thompson to four days in the Stutsman County Correctional Center with credit for four days served. Thompson was placed on two years supervised probation.

Thompson is to pay a $650 criminal administration fee, $100 defense/facility fee, $500 fine/state, $35 indigent defense application fee and $25 victim-witness fee.

LeFevre ordered the disposition of the sentence deferred until Jan. 20, 2019, at which time if Thompson has met all requirements of sentencing the charge will be dismissed.

A Class B felony is punishable by 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
