New Delhi: Indian colts on Saturday made the whole nation proud by clinching the ICC U-19 World Cup trophy for the record fourth time after thrashing Australia by the eight wickets in the summit clash. It was opener Manjot Kalra’s unbeaten century which helped India in chasing the target of 217. Overall, it was the team-effort which led India to glory.
The Rahul Dravid coached side put up a brilliant show to clinch the title and also remained undefeated throughout the tournament. From the great Sachin Tendulkar to Virender Sehwag, Indian cricketers join the nation in the celebration of the historical victory of the young guns and they took to micro-blogging site Twitter to express their happiness. Meanwhile, swashbuckling batsman Shubman Gill was awarded Player of the Tournament trophy as has been India’s best performer with the bat. The 18-year old scored three half-centuries and a ton in the tournament. Also, Manjot Kalra was awarded Player of the Match in the final for his unbeaten century.
