REAL MADRID president Florentino Perez is preparing for a huge summer overhaul of their squad, according to reports in Spain.

Real Madrid have had a poor season and have failed to mount a serious defence of their La Liga title.

The Bernabeu club currently sit fourth in the table and are 19 points off league leaders Barcelona.

As a result, Real president Florentino Perez will be taking drastic action in the summer transfer window.

And according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, he has already begun making calls for a complete overhaul of the squad.

Perez reportedly feels he made a huge mistake not strengthening Real’s team after last season’s title-winning season.

And now Barcelona and their other La Liga rivals have stolen a march on them which has called for a drastic shake up.

Over the coming months Perez will be assessing Real’s older statesmen, while also looking at how best to bed in youth talent from the B team.

However, it is not all doom and gloom as some fringe players will be given their opportunity to shine, according to Don Balon.

The report says Nacho and Lucas Vazquez are two players who stand to benefit hugely from Perez’s changes.

The duo have been bit-part players since graduating from the academy but will be given a chance to shine in the first team in the latter part of this season.

Vazquez and Nacho are said to have turned down opportunities to leave the Bernabeu of late, with interest from Roma, Liverpool and Sevilla.

And they could become key players for the 2018/19 campaign if Perez’s switch-up goes to plan.
