PORTLAND, Ore. -- What happened in the dead of night had Solara Amour's day totally shot.
She woke up to find someone had slashed all the tires on her car. Walk down the block, and tires on other cars were slashed too. We counted five. But there are more.
“They're angry about something and they don't know how to handle it,” said Amour.
She said she was awake when it happened. She heard a noise outside at around midnight.
“I heard a sound like pressure was being released off a valve, like there was the rushing of air through something,” Amour said.
When she looked outside, she said she saw the person who did it. However, she doesn’t think she could identify the person since it was so dark. The person she believes is responsible was caught on her neighbor's surveillance camera.
In the video, you can't see much, but it has been shared with neighbors to see if anyone knows who the person is.
Ricardo Alvarez came by with his own tow truck. Two of his cars got hit too. It'll cost him quite a bit to fix the damage.
“Probably like $600-$700 for all of them,” said Alvarez.
All four tires on his truck were slashed. It's the same story for his other car that he loaded up to go get fixed.
“Hopefully police figure out who did it,” he said.
That's Amour's hope too.
“How does this make sense in the first place; that somebody even wants to slash a tire,” she said.
The timing couldn't be worse for Amour. She just had shoulder surgery and now she'll have to pay for her tires, too.
Sgt. Chris Burley with the Portland Police Bureau said they received seven calls. While police were in the area investigating, they arrested one person who was wanted on a warrant. Burley said that person has not been charged with vandalism or criminal mischief. Detectives are still investigating.
