At their next agenda session, the Duluth City Council will see the tentative agreement between the city and Oxford Properties for development of the Harbor Square shopping mall. Mayor Robert Beaudin said yesterday an Oxford representative will explain the agreement and answer questions.
Mayor Robert Beaudin told the Duluth City Council last night that a motel is needed at Spirit Mountain for the facility to flourish. A motel is necessary to obtain an estimated $900,000 in federal funds to pay for proposed improvements, Beaudin said.

Superior residents traveling to Madison next month for Superior Days will pitch to state officials the idea of building a prison here. Wisconsin has one of the nation's fastest growing prison populations, with the number of inmates doubling in the last eight years.
The Duluth School Board will meet tonight to discuss changes brought about by Minnesota's new graduation standards. Some board members fear that with the new standards' complexity, college-bound students may not get classes required for admission.
