India won their fourth U-19 world cup title this afternoon. Thanks to the unbeaten century of Manjot Kalra and amazing performance by Indian bowlers on Saturday at bay oval in mount Maunganui. Australia couldn’t use the Indians’ inexperience in big chase matches in their benefit.

Even though it was an easy game overall for India but in the beginning, India did lose two early wickets in Prithvi Shaw and Shubham Gill but Kalra carried the chasing pressure and ended up hitting 100 runs off 102 balls including 3 sixes and 8 fours.

Australians did show some talent when it comes to batting in the beginning, fast bowler Ishan Porel got out both openers Max Bryant and Jack Edwards. Kamlesh Nagarkoti also hit early as he got the crucial wicket of Australian captain Jason sangha early.

Gill too played some beautiful shots specially against the spinners. Hardik the wicketkeeper batsman was playing as a supportive role as Kalra was marching towards his century. Merlo was however looking to trouble them continuously

Kalra also reached a milestone of being only the second Indian born after Unmukt Chand to score a ton in the Under 19 World cup final.
