SARASOTA COUNTY — A proposal to build 500 single-family homes on 288.2 acres of Palmer Ranch between Honore Avenue and State Road 681 will be discussed at a neighborhood workshop Tuesday at Nokomis Community Park.
The development by DiVosta Homes, is just north of Calusa Lakes — south of S.R. 681 and west of Honore Avenue — and is a continuation of the incremental development at Palmer Ranch.
Crystal Allread, a senior planner at Stantec, noted that the developer has worked on several neighborhoods in Palmer Ranch, including Hammock Preserve, Sandhill Preserve and the Isles on Palmer Ranch.
Plans call for single-family attached and detached homes.
The developer is seeking a change in zoning from an open-use estates classification to residential single-family and planned unit development.
The gated residential community center would have access to the Legacy Trail and an amenity center.
The main entrance would likely be off of Honore Avenue.
The neighborhood workshop is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Nokomis Community Park, 234 Nippino Trail, Nokomis.
Neighborhood workshops are designed for residents to learn about a development but are not public hearings.
