JNU organises national conclave on CSR of PSUs

The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) held a national conclave on the outreach programme of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Public Sector Units (PSUs) on Thursday. The total of thirteen PSUs including NBCC, NTPC, NHPC, BHEL, Power Grid Corporation and SR Asia International were part of the conclave.

The conclave was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of JNU Prof. M Jagadesh Kumar in the presence of Prof. SC Garkoti , Rector II and G Ramesh Kumar, CMD NSTFDC, who was the chief guest for the occasion.

 Prof. Garkoti emphasised on the need for collaborative efforts of the PSUs with academic institutions. The inaugural address by M Jagadesh Kumar provided a vision of JNU with respect to its social responsibility.

VC also underlined the need for all round inclusion of JNU academics with the CSR activities of PSUs.

“The time has come when knowledge from academics should contribute to the development of common mans’ life,” said M Jagadesh Kumar.

Emphasis was laid on the need for planning and execution of the CSR programs which can benefit the stand-up India and start-up India program of Government of India. Showcasing the strength of JNU, Prof. Kaushal Kumar underlined the subject area in which JNU can contribute to the CSR activities of PSUs. He specifically pointed out the need of CSR investment in green energy, infrastructure development like hostels, facilities for “divyangs”. He also highlighted that JNU has the capacity to develop rural India by adopting the villages through CSR activities of the PSUs.
