WAYNE, Neb. -- The Wayne State College Black and Gold Performing Arts Series will present the Glenn Miller Orchestra in concert at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 22 in Ramsey Theatre, located in the Peterson Fine Arts Building on the Wayne State College campus.
Fan favorites such as "Chattanooga Choo Choo," "Moonlight Serenade" and "A String of Pearls" made the Glenn Miller Orchestra the most-sought-after big band in the world. The orchestra has entertained audiences for more than 60 years.
The group includes the music director, five saxophone players, four trumpeters, four trombonists, three rhythm musicians (piano, bass and drums), a male vocalist and a female vocalist.
Miller was one of the most successful dance bandleaders during the 1930s and '40s Swing Era. He disappeared in 1944 during a trip to Europe. Miller's enduring popularity led his estate to authorize the formation of the present Glenn Miller Orchestra in 1956.
This concert is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Ushers will direct attendees on a first-come, first-served basis.
