THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Presenting the Kerala Budget at the Assembly on Friday morning, Finance Minister Dr. Thomas Isaac has reintroduced the increased land tax that was first introduced in 2015.
The minister said that this would bring in an extra revenue of Rs. 100 crore.
The new rates directs Rs. 1 per R up to eight R, Rs. 2 per R up to two hectares, and Rs. 5 per R for land above two hectares in panchayats. Also a basic charge of Rs. 400 has to be paid.
The basic charge in town panchayats and municipalities is Rs. 800. Along with that it would be Rs. 2 per R up to three R, Rs. 4 per R up to two hectares, and Rs. 10 per R for land above two hectares.
Similarly, in municipal corporations, it will be Rs. 2 per R up to two R, Rs. 8 per R up to two hectares and Rs. 20 per R for land above two hectares. The basic charge would be Rs. 1,600.
