GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (AP) — Organizers have called off another training session for the last women's World Cup downhill races before the Pyeongchang Olympics on Friday, a day after bad weather canceled the first session.
The international ski federation says course workers need more time as "conditions on the slope" after Thursday's rain and snowfall are not good enough for training, despite improved weather with spells of sunshine.
The federation plans to announce a new program for the weekend at a meeting with coaches later Friday. At least one training is mandatory before a downhill race.
The initial schedule consists of a two-run sprint downhill on Saturday, followed by a regular downhill the next day.
The Pyeongchang Games open next week, with the women's downhill scheduled for Feb. 21.
