Some of the most highly anticipated moments of any given Super Bowl Sunday – particularly if you’re not a football fan or your favorite team isn’t playing – are the commercials aired during the game.

Advertisers like Budweiser, Pepsi, Volkswagen and Doritos spend millions of dollars for a 30-or 60-second spot to sell their products, and if they’ve done it right, entertain millions of viewers in the process.

1 The force must be with you to win the Super Bowl. 

In 2011, Volkswagen harnessed the power of Darth Vader with its commercial for a Passat. Can you feel the power?

2 “First one to miss watches the other one eat.”

It is never a bad idea to bring in sports stars and in 1993 McDonald's did just that for an ad. In this ad spot, basketball legends Michael Jordan and Larry Bird play a game of Horse as they compete for a BigMac.

3 A new Pepsi can rated an appearance by supermodel Cindy Crawford in 1992.

5 How old are the E-trade babies now? It does not matter. From 2007 and to 2011, the E-trade babies were Super Bowl commercial gold.

6 Apple introduced its first personal computer in this Super Bowl commercial. Directed by Ridley Scott, Apple told viewers on that “On January 24, Apple will introduce MacIntosh. And you’ll see why 1984 won’t be like ‘1984.’”

7 The Budweiser’s Super Bowl commercials that feature the Clydesdale horses often speak of friendship, love and perseverance. This 2002 commercial paid tribute to the victims of 9/11.
