CPP leader arrested in Ozamis City
A composite team of police and military has arrested a ranking leader of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) in Ozamiz City, authorities disclosed on Friday.
Rommel Dorango Salinas, secretary of the CPP, was arrested on Thursday at Bernard Subdivision, City Hall Drive, Brgy. Aguada, Ozamis City, according to Supt. Lemuel Gonda, spokesperson of the Northern Mindanao regional police.
Salinas was arrested for the crimes of frustrated murder and destructive arson, officials said.
Gonda said Salinas was brought to the Bureau of Jail and Management and Penology at Brgy. Tinago, Ozamis City “for proper disposition.”
The arrest of Salinas came a day after the capture of National Democratic Front peace consultant Rafael Baylosis in Quezon City. /kga
