Satara, Feb 2: An earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale struck Satara in Maharashtra during wee hours on Friday. No reports of casualty or damage were received till the time of filing this report. The epicenter of the quake is not known yet. More details awaited.
The quake hit the city two days after strong tremors were felt across North India, including Delhi-NCR, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh. The epicenter of the quake, on Wednesday, was reported to be in Jarm of Afghanistan.
Satara was jolted by tremors measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale near the Koyna dam in Maharashtra on January 21. The depth of the earthquake was 10 kms below the ground.
In August last year, earthquake of magnitude 4.5 hit Maharashtra’s Satara district. No casualty or damage was reported.
