A two-car crash brought Beverley Road to a halt as the Friday evening rush hour started to get underway.
Ambulances and police cars attended the scene of the crash near the road's junction with Fountain Road.
One man was working on a car wash near to the incident and said he heard a “loud bang” at around 3.45pm.

He said: “I looked around and the car was filling with smoke then they ran out."
The crash was between a red Fiat Alhambra and a red Peugeot 206.
Outbound traffic was forced to slow down to a crawling pace, but the traffic did continue to flow.

One driver was taken to hospital for a check-up but Humberside Police have said no one involved in the incident suffered serious injuries.
A force spokeswoman said: “We were called to a road traffic collision near Asda in Beverley Road between a red Fiat Alhambra and a red Peugeot 206.
“An ambulance was called and arrived on the scene about 3.45pm.

“One driver was taken to hospital for a check up but neither driver suffered serious injuries.
“Traffic is still flowing. PCSOs have remained at the scene while waiting for the vehicles to be recovered.”
