MOUNDRIDGE — Edward William Vogts, age 84, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018 at his home in Pine Village, Moundridge. Ed was born on September 4, 1933 to Herman G. Vogts and Mattie Heim Vogts, Goessel, Kansas. 

On June 29, 1956 he married Kathryn S. Schrag at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Bremerton, Washington, where Ed was stationed in the U.S. Navy.  

Ed is survived by his wife of almost sixty-two years, Kathryn S. Vogts of the home in Moundridge; his two sons, Mark E. Vogts and wife Joyce of Moundridge, Alan E. Vogts and wife Jennifer of North Newton, and one daughter Jenny K. Loyd and D. Scot Loyd of Galva, six granddaughters, two grandsons, one step granddaughter, two step grandsons, five great-grandchildren.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Leroy, Marion and Roger.

Family and friends may call on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Moundridge Funeral Home in Moundridge. The family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Church Services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the Meridian Baptist Church, 1130 W. Broadway Street, Newton, Kansas with Pastor Jerroll Martens and Pastor Scott Kliewer officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Mound Township Cemetery in Moundridge.

The family has suggested memorials to the Meridian Baptist Church and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Remembrances may be left in care of the Moundridge Funeral Home, 115 Cole Street, Moundridge, Kansas 67107.
