KOCHI: Presenting the M K Ayyappan Master Award to CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran at an event at the Ernakulam Press Club, party national secretariat member Pannian Raveendran has said that no one needs to try to label Kanam as anti-CPM.

“No one who comprehends politics properly would feel that Kanam is anti-CPM. Kanam only expresses his stern stance, and those are that protects the front. It is his guts not to hide and openly declare his stance on issues. And for that sometimes he has to listen to blames but it is essential to openly declare one’s stance. The LDF setup in Kerala is an example to the country. And to strengthen this, many things will have to be openly said, and it is appreciable that Kanam takes the step forward for this,” he said.

Kanam said in return that whatever he says are not his personal opinion s but the stance of the party. “It’s my duty to talk about my party’s stance and I’m able to do it successfully. It is necessary for corrective forces to come up when wrong things come into the Communist parties, and each parties adopt their own means to do this,” he said.

Commenting on the Union Budget 2018-19 presented by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday, Kanam said that the healthcare scheme announced in the budget is the biggest sham the world has ever witnessed.
