MRPL Q3 net up 71%

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) has registered a profit-after-tax of ₹970 crore in the third quarter of 2017-18 against a profit of ₹567 crore in the corresponding period of 2016-17, recording a growth of 71.07 per cent.

GRM (gross refining margin) of the refinery for the third quarter of 2017-18 stood at $9.27 a barrel against $7.43 a barrel in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

(GRM is the difference between the price of crude and end products such as diesel, petrol, etc.) In rupee terms, GRM works out to around ₹1,973 crore (₹1,617 crore).

Throughput at the refinery stood at 4.49 million tonnes during the third quarter of 2017-18 against 4.35 mt during Q3 of 2016-17. Exports from the refinery stood at 1.71 mt (1.31 mt) during the period.

The company’s turnover stood at ₹17,417 crore (including exports of ₹5,757 crore) during the third quarter of 2017-18 against ₹15,740 crore (exports ₹3,859 crore) in the corresponding quarter of 2016-17.
