Traders' association in Delhi, Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has called for a 'bandh' on February 2 and 3 to protest against the municipal corporations over the sealing issue.
Popular markets like Greater Kailash, Karol Bagh, Connaught Place, Chandni Chowk, Kamla Nagar, Khan Market, South Extension, Lajpat Nagar, Defence Colony, Green Park, Rajouri Garden and Tilak Nagar may remain closed over the weekend.
So, in case, if you were planning a fun-filled weekend trip to these markets, you might have to alter your plans a bit.
The sealing process of shops in popular markets was carried out by municipal corporations due to the presence of unauthorised constructions and extensions. According to the Delhi Master Plan, construction jobs outside shops in these areas is illegal.
This decision by the traders' association might affect both the consumers and traders as the footfall in markets is always more as compared to the weekdays.
