A nineteen-year-old girl was allegedly raped inside a movie theatre screening Padmaavat in Secunderabad.
Police have arrested 19-year-old Kandakatla Bikshapathi, a JCB driver for the crime. A case has been registered following a complaint by the victim.
According to the police, the victim and Bikshapathi met on Facebook a couple of months back and became friends.
About 20 days back the two met at Swathi Hotel near Secunderabad railway station and from there went to the accused's sister's house in Jagathgirigutta.
The two met again on January 29 when the accused called the victim over phone at around 11 in the morning.
They met at Swathi Hotel and them went to Indira Park. From there they went to Prashanth Theatre to watch the film Padmaavat.
While the film was being screened, Bikshapathi raped the victim. The cinema hall was nearly empty and nobody was sitting close to them.
The victim lodged a complaint with the police in the presence of her parents. Police arrested Bikshapathi on January 31 and produced him before court on February 1.
Police are also initiating action against the owners of Prashanth Theatre for negligence.
