The Bhograi Marine police slapped a case under IPC Sections of attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy against the woman, Rajeswari Kamila, who hurled eggs at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while he was addressing a public meeting at Bhograi on Wednesday.
“A case has been registered under section 307 and 12(b) of IPC basing on compliant of a policeman on duty. The action would be taken after her discharge from hospital,” said IIC Jogendra Malik.
Rajeswari, who was allegedly thrashed by a group of enraged people after she threw eggs at the CM, is now undergoing treatment in the Baleswar District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). She had complained of chest and body pain following the attack.
Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Bibekananda Das said she was under treatment and nothing alarming detected. But X-ray of chest and other body portions, besides other investigations, would be carried out, he said.
In the meanwhile, a team of BJP activists headed by former MLA Pratap Sarangi visited Rajeswari in the hospital and inquired about her health. The team condemned the attack on her.
“Out of emotion created in her following Kunduli incident, she committed something but she was beaten mercilessly by BJD supporters in presence of police. There is no space of violence in democracy,” said Sarangi.
Following Wednesday’s incidents, supporters of the BJP and the B indulged in a clash in Baliapal. Baliapal gram panchayat president Raghunath Jena (48) was injured in the incident. He is now undergoing treatment in the DHH.
The woman, wife of local BJP leader Dillip Kamila, hurled a couple of eggs at the CM when Dillip had been kept in detention by police since the Tuesday night.
“It was my protest against Kunduli shameful incident,” said Rajeswari Kamila.
