In a significant achievement towards meeting its own power requirement and subsequently reducing dependence on the central pool or other states, Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UJVNL) has achieved record power generation at Mohammadpur hydro-power project in January.
Mohammadpur hydro-power project was set up in 1952 at Upper Ganga Nahar in Haridwar district. This unit has achieved record power generation in July since it was set up.
In January, 2018, this unit has generated power of 5.824 million units. In the past, in January 2016, this power unit had generated power of 5.719 million units. UJVNL managing director S N Verma said that UJVNL has set a new record in electricity generation at Mohammadpur hydro-power project. This had been made possible by the effective monitoring and efficient operation and maintenance of power houses, he said. He attributed the achievement to the staffers of UJVNL.
