Eighteen applicants are vying to sell medical marijuana in the region made up of Lorain, Medina, Wayne and Holmes counties.
All of the applicants asking to operate dispensaries are in Lorain County, according to a list released by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
The proposed locations are:
• 603 Cleveland St., Elyria
• 420 Oberlin Road, Elyria
• 1920 Cooper Foster Park Road, Lorain (Note: four different applicants submitted applications at this address)
• 117 Waverly St., Elyria
• 1990 Cooper Foster Park Road, Suite B1, Lorain (Note: two different applicants submitted applications at this address)
• 801 Cleveland St., Elyria
• 403 Cleveland St., Elyria
• 2000 Midway Mall, Elyria
• 223 Abbe Road N., Elyria
• 230 S. Logan St., Elyria
• 4150 E. Lake Road, Sheffield Lake
• 1268 E. Broad St. No. 3, Elyria
• 709 Sugar Lane, Elyria

Proposed dispensary locations much be at least 500 feet away from schools, churches, public libraries, public playgrounds, public parks and community addiction service provides.
The Ohio Board of Pharmacy has not said when it is expected to issue provisional dispensary licenses. The state program is supposed to begin in September.
Ohio has selected 12 large growers and 12 small growers to participate in its medical marijuana program, including Ascension BioMedical LLC in Oberlin and Farkas Farms LLC in Grafton.
