Bajaj Auto Q3 profit inches up 3% YoY to Rs 1,013 crore

Commercial vehicle division would exceed its sales target for the year, the company said.
NEW DELHI: Bajaj Auto on Friday reported a 4 per cent year-on-year (YoY) rise in consolidated profit after tax (PAT) at Rs 1,013 crore for December quarter. The two-wheeler maker had reported Rs 977 crore profit in the year-ago period.

Standalone profit for the quarter rose 3 per cent YoY to Rs 952 crore compared with Rs 925 crore in the year-ago quarter. Standalone turnover for the quarter came in at Rs 6,596 crore, up 16 per cent YoY, over Rs 5,673 crore in the same quarter last year.

The company in January had launched Discover 110 and Discover 125, besides Avenger Cruise 220 and Avenger 220. The company expects these rollouts to improve absolute volumes and share in the domestic market.

Ebitda rose 17 per cent YoY to Rs 1,325 crore in the third quarter from Rs 1,131 crore in the year-ago period.

The company reported a 2 per cent jump in domestic motorcycle sales at 4,66,431 units, while it reported doubling of commercial vehicles sales at 1,10,123 units.

"Commercial vehicle division would exceed its sales target for the year," the company said.

Exports market saw 22 per cent jump in motorcycle sales and 48 per cent surge in commercial vehicle sales. This was the best quarter for the company as far as CV unit sales goes.
