Your Voice - Your Vote , is a lively debate, sponsored by the Alice Echo-News Journal, Coastal Bend College and HUB City Association, which will feature races for county and state candidates.
The forum will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16 at the Hub City Event Center (K.C. Hall) located at 1050 Cecilia St.
"We will continue to hold our debates to inform the public about the local candidates running so they can make an educated decision on who to vote for during the March 6 Primary Election," said Ofelia Hunter, executive editor for Alice Echo-News Journal. "We encourage residents to join us that evening."
An area will be designated for all candidates, running in opposed or unopposed races, to have an opportunity to pass out campaign literature. Candidates can start setting up and decorating their table Thursday, Feb. 15.
All candidates will be given a two minutes to tell attendees about themselves and their platforms including their experience, education and family.
Races include local Jim Wells County candidates.
Candidates will be asked a total of two to three questions with a time limit of two minutes followed by 1-minute rebuttals from their opponent(s).
All responses at the two-minute mark will be interrupted, so it is imperative the candidates be prepared to keep their responses within that time period.
All candidates interested in reserving a table to provide campaign literature, can RSVP by Monday, Feb. 12 at (361) 664-6588, ext. 216 or directly to Executive Editor Ofelia Hunter at (361) 396-8181.
Voters may cast their early vote by mail or personal appearance at the Jim Wells County Election Administrator's Office located at 200 N. Almond St. at the courthouse from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
