SUMMARY:
Odessa Police have made an arrest in connection to a stabbing that occurred yesterday at the Dixie Square Apartments. Raymond Corey Harris, date of birth 02/02/1998, has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Family Violence) “1st Degree Felony” and Violation of Protective Order “3rd Degree Felony”.
On February 1, 2018 at approximately 1712 hours, Odessa Police and Odessa Fire Rescue responded to 222 North Dixie in reference to a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the 18-year-old victim, who was transported to Medical Center Hospital with serious bodily injury.
Investigation revealed that the victim’s boyfriend, identified as Harris, followed the victim from the bus stop to her apartment. After both subjects got into an argument, Harris stabbed his girlfriend several times in the neck, chest and stomach area with a knife.
Harris fled the scene but was later located by officers in the 3600 block of East 29th Street. Harris was interviewed by detective and admitted to stabbing his girlfriend. Further investigation revealed that Harris had been arrested on 1-26-18 for assaulting his girlfriend and an emergency protective order had been placed against him.
Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Harris was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
