Kupwara district administration today asked the Jammu and Kashmir Police to investigate the death of a large number of fish in a stream, after residents suspected foul play by miscreants, an official spokesman said. The administration also asked people not to consume water of Mawer nallah in Langate area in the district, the spokesman said. "As reported by the Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kupwara, a few miscreants have poured some chemical in Mawer nallah, which has resulted in a large scale death of fish," he said. He said a fish farm on the stream has also been affected. Authorities have been asked to conduct an investigation into the matter and take action against the miscreants, he added.
