Thu, April 6, 2017How to save money: 10 Simple everyday tips for everyone.
1. Keep your shopping receipts as they regularly have offers and discounts off your next shop on the back
Martin Lewis, money saving expert, 45, revealed a two minute easy trick that could save you hundreds of pounds.
Speaking on ITV show This Morning, he said: "I was delighted last week when after this slot Eamon mentioned he’d saved doing my Direct Debit audit, that I’d talked about on my show. So why not try it?
"If you bank online simply go to the direct debits and standing orders page and check for things you no longer use or need.
"It can range from waste like a gym membership that you never go to (check you’re out of contract), to absurd, the cameraman on my show found he was paying council tax for an old property he’d since sold – wasting thousands."

Martin used the example of a user on his website forum, who saved £600 through doing this trick.
The user Lego4gary said “regularly reviewing your direct debits is a good idea.
"I did this fairly recently and found out that somehow I was still paying home insurance on a house I didn't live in anymore!
"Cancelled this and got over £600 back as a refund.”
Yesterday, Martin Lewis revealed a simple credit card trick to get an interest free £100.

“This weekend – Fri to Sun, spend £10 or more online or at main Sainsbury’s stores (not local ones) and when you swipe your Nectar card, you’ll randomly be added a minimum of 200 extra points (worth £1) and a maximum of 5,000 (worth £25) in its 'Swipe & Win' prize draw.
“To claim the points you’ll be handed a coupon with your receipt showing how many bonus Nectar points you've won. You then need to ask in-store (at checkout or customer service) to have them added to your Nectar card by Sunday 18 Feb.
“If you want to max your chances you can play this a little, as you can enter as many times as you want, so split a larger shop could be split into multiple transactions to max your winnings and improve your odds of a top prize.”

“Last week I reminded you to check the expiry date on your passport, as some countries require you to have at least six months left on it, otherwise you could be refused entry.
“And now there’s a reason to do this quickly as this week the Home Office announced its planning to up the cost of passport renewals.
“Online applications will increase by £3 for both adults and children to £75.50 (adults) and £49 (children), whilst postal applications will increase by £12.50 for both adults and children to £85 (adults) and £58.50 (children).
“Though the plans still have to be rubberstamped by MPs, it’s set to come into force on 27 March.
“If you’ve nine months or less left on your passport it is worth doing this now, as when you renew, up to nine months remaining on your old passport is added to your new one. Or if you’re maybe 10 or 11 months away, wait until nearer the deadline of the price rise to get it done.“
