Speaking to Daily Star Online exclusively, tech wizard Chris Middleton supported some of the theories expressed in Netflix’s new original series – Altered Carbon.
He disclosed that some of the series concepts may not be too far from possible reality.
Chris said: “The show presumes that consciousness is somehow separate from the brain.”
“It's more likely that consciousness will be replicated at some point, rather than 'transferred' – an exact copy of a brain or a person – a digital twin.
“That consciousness might believe it is the original, because it retains our personality and all our memories. But would it be? That's an interesting question.

Chris has previously spoken about the human body being replaced by artificial intelligence in the future.
He said: “At some point, 50 or 100 years in the future, might a whole human body become replaceable, editable, or upgradable? I wouldn't bet against it."
"We can already see that some technologies encourage people – unfortunately – to behave more like machines.
“But at the same time, machines are becoming more human. Look at Siri, Alexa, and the rest.”
He stresses that although he believes robotics and AI will play a huge part, his opinions are only predictions based on what we know now and what possibilities Altered Carbon creates.
He admitted: "Most science fiction writers are writing about the present day, using technology as an allegory.
"In a way, I do the same. I'm on the side of human beings.
“I write about robotics and AI in the real world, because these technologies raise important questions about what sort of society we want, or don't want.
"In the long run, many human beings may simply reject these technologies."
His comments come following the heavily anticipated release of Altered Carbon.
The sci-fi series is set 300 years in the future, displaying new technology that allows humans to transfer consciousness to new artificially created bodies, named sleeves.
This means some humans can essentially live forever, if they have the money to afford the technology.
The show is centred around an elite, interstellar soldier called Takeshi Kovacs.
He is the lone survivor of a group of warriors after they were defeated in an uprising against the new world order.
His consciousness has been brought back to life after 250 years imprisoned on ice – a virtual punishment – and placed in the body of a US soldier.
