U.S. Rep. Roger Marshall, R-Great Bend, has over a half-million dollars in his campaign account and is facing no opponent this election year.
Federal Election Commission reports for 2017 were due at the end of January and revealed congressional incumbents were geared up for the 2018 election season.
Marshall is running for a second term and had $546,958 in cash on hand at the end of the year. Former U.S. Rep. Tim Huelskamp has an active account for 2018, but it held $67,885. Huelskamp took a job with the Heartland Institute in Illinois after losing to Marshall in 2016 and leaving Congress.
No Democrat has declared for the 1st District race. The last day to file for the August primary ballot is June. 1.
U.S. Rep. Ron Estes, R-Wichita, reported $304,914 in cash on hand at the close of 2017. Two Wichita Democrats, James Thompson and Laura Lombard, have less than $22,000 combined in cash heading into the election year.
